Jefferson's Ocean - Aged At Sea - Cask Strength

Jefferson’s Ocean Aged at Sea Cask strength is a 112 proof bourbon from the Kentucky Artisan Distillery in Kentucky. It has a fun story in that once it is matured, the bourbon is put in old barrels (I don’t know what that means?), loaded onto a boat, and shipped around the world. The brand claims it crosses the equator 4 times and visits five different continents before being bottled. The bourbon is sourced, so there isn’t a lot of detail on it; the unique thing about the bourbon is its sea voyage, which imparts a unique flavor. Bottles seem to typically go for about $100-$120.

I eyed this delicious bourbon for a couple months before HusBen surprised me with it as a Christmas present. It smells rich and caramelly with a freshness that reminds me of peaches The flavor is vanilla, tobacco, oak (obviously), and I am probably hallucinating but I’m still getting fruit! It finishes with the tiniest hint of salt. It it cask strength and burns, leaving your lips tingling. Add an ice cube and it smoothes out - the light caramel sweetness takes a stronger quality. It’s a nice treat for a special occasion with potent flavors and an alcoholic kick.
